They raise a great number of points with regard
to the whole Mui Tsai system in Hong Kong, upon which questions
will have to be asked in Parliament in order to elicit the true
facts. This will no doubt help rather than hinder you in
abolishing the system, for we must presume that the present
Labour Government will not be content with the inaction and the
negative attitude taken up by the Conservative Government.
There is one question which arises immediately,
and that is the following one:-
Why was the Chinese widow not brought before the Court by the
Secretary for Chinese Affairs for having purchased a girl,bot)
sale and purchase being contrary to the Ordinance of 1923, an
therefore a direct breach of the law ?
